What an astonishing thing a book is. It’s a flat object made from a tree with flexible parts on which are imprinted lots of funny dark squiggles. But one glance at it and you’re inside the mind of another person, maybe somebody dead for thousands of years. Across the millennia, an author is speaking clearly and silently inside your head, directly to you. Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions, binding together people who never knew each other, citizens of distant epochs. Books break the shackles of time. A book is proof that humans are capable of working magic.

1) If you had taken the time to look into matters a bit, you would see that I decided to be done with Tumblr far before I even knew I was moving away. If you don’t believe me, go look on my blog. It’s there. The only reason I saw this question is that I still get update emails from Tumblr.
2) I have not by any means cut my friends from Iowa out of my life. I have been communicating with those people who choose to communicate with me. I moved, I have to make new friends here… I think that if people care, they will make at least a minimal effort to talk to me.
2.5) Instead of texting or emailing me, you chose to send me an anonymous Tumblr message. If you really missed me and wanted to talk to me, I would assume that you would directly communicate with me instead of doing this.
3) To all of the lovely people who did not send me this message, I’m sorry you had to see this. I cannot communicate with the person who sent it in any other way, since he or she chose to remain anonymous. It really hurts me that people decide to say things like this without being adequately informed and without making an effort to handle things personally first.
